She went to Berkeley and was big into the activism scene as she studied the cultural effects of folklore and mythology throughout the ages. She was arrested because these activism protests and that is how she met her husband. And she's so totally in love with him that she pissed off a lot of people when she agreed to marry him.
Stiles' name is part of a promise she made to her parents when she left them to go to college. Her cultural heritage is Hungarian with a slight flavor of Russian and Irish. Her family tends to love fast and love hard and they don't often get over their first real loves. She has nightmares of her husband not coming back one night and there are nights she can't sleep until he's home because of that.
She would lull her baby boy to sleep every night with fairytales because that's how her father lulled her to sleep and it was a tradition that she was determined to carry with her. Because her family has a history of being a little bit more than everyone else and she knew it would carry over to Stiles. The Spark, you see will run in families and the genetic traits are always passed on.
She was working on her thesis here and there when they got married, though she stopped for a little bit after Stiles was born. Because being there for her husband and baby boy was much more important to her. She kept writing and taking pictures of things right up until she was hospitalized.
She could never ever know enough about a thing. There were no bad questions to her, only unanswered ones.
Before she died, she made Stiles promise to look after his dad. Because she knew Stiles would be a Spark and his father is still unaware of the other side of things, no matter how many times she tried to tell him about it.
Her disease wasn't natural. The human doctors did what they could but eventually the poison was unable to be contained and the Spark was extinguished and with that, her life.
